My name is Betsy and I have been a self-taught fabric artist for many years....begining as a child and learning from the best and most patient teacher in the world....my mother!I have had my hands, heart and soul into various fabric art forms through the years including clothing design, wall art, quilting, wool felt art, and ,of course, my true passion....DOLLS!
Primitive dolls had been my main focus for several years and I never thought I would be moving on to a different form of doll making....but my need to experiment with different styles, mediums, and color brought me to the world of art dolls.
My very patient and supportive husband, Dave, has helped make it possible for me to stay at home and create "cloth souls". I never know what's going to inspire me to create a "soul"..... a particular fabric, a vintage lace, a flower, a beautiful button, or maybe a thought from a friend or fellow artist!
I was thrilled to be a featured artist at the THREADS 2007 exhibit at the Art Center in Butler, PA. Also, this year "Oh Brother" was featured in the Spring 2008 issue of Art Doll Quarterly! This Oct. I had my own solo show at The Art Center in Butler for their Hot Pink exhibit!
My art is also being sold at The Blue Heron Gallery in Volant, Pa: www.theblueherongallery.com
